Fall is here and nothing says fall like drinking a nice cocktail after work to decompress following a long day. With the summer heat behind us, its time to say goodbye to coronas with lime and spiked seltzers and say hello to rich, soothing cocktails that leave you feeling relaxed. With that being said, you can’t just pour vodka in a glass and mix in anything you want; here are 5 must-have drinks for the upcoming fall season.

The Sazerac is a local New Orleans variation of a cognac or whiskey cocktail. Some may consider it stiff, but others love the rich flavor that it consists of. All you need is 2 ½ oz of rye whisky, 1 sugar cube, 2 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters, 1 dash of angostura bitters, absinthe, and a lemon peel!

The Declaration

If you haven’t heard of this drink before it’s about time you do! This drink is a little more complex but packs a punch and is worth the wait. It includes 1 1/2 oz. Irish whiskey, 1/2 oz. honey simple, 3/4 oz. Noilly Pratt dry vermouth, 1 bar spoon lemon juice, 1 dash Angostura bitters, and 2 dashes orange bitters. Add an orange twist at the end to give a good look and extra tasty zip.

Whiskey Sour

A simple drink that has a kick, a whiskey sour can taste delightful if made correctly but poor if the ratio is off. Too much sour mix and it tastes too sweet, like a sour candy, or too much whiskey and the drink is overpowering and undrinkable. 2 oz bourbon, 2/3 oz lemon juice, and 1 tsp. of sugar to go along the rim will do the drink and in no time you have yourself great looking and tasting drink.

Old Fashioned

A classy drink for a classy person. An Old Fashioned is a strong drink that is on the sweeter side. It includes 2 oz. bourbon, 3 dashes Angostura bitters, 1 sugar cube, and club soda. Top it off with an orange slice to give it a bit more flavor and you have yourself the perfect drink to sip on.
